Cornell Develops Algorithms to Mimic Sounds of Water

The sounds you hear in this video are created by an algorithm, not prerecorded sounds. They've some how managed to use the data in the 3D scene to make sound. This is way beyond me but cool non the less.

18aC's First Museum Show

Built: Kranzberg Exhibition 2009
Opening June 5th
6p-8p
Showing til September 6th

>

Six local artists and the Laumeier staff are busy preparing for Built, the 2009 Kranzberg Exhibition which opens June 5 at 6 p.m.
For only the second time, the Kranzberg show features multiple artists who are transforming the indoor galleries into five unique installations.

According to Kim Humphries, Laumeier's Director of Exhibitions and Collections, "All the work in Built is site-specific - some of it solidly-so, literally constructed into and onto the galleries."

For Stan Chisholm, the exhibition has brought him full circle. The recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is working with Laumeier's Manager of Exhibitions and Collections, Robert Goetz, who taught Chisholm as a high school student in the Contemporary Art Museum St Louis' New Art in the Neighborhood program.

Plan to attend the June 5 opening and see Chisholm's installation as well as work by Sarah Frost, Craig Norton, Mike Behle and Cameron Fuller & Sarah Paulsen in what Post-Dispatch Visual Arts Critic David Bonetti called, "the most promising show opening this summer."

Some of My Examples of Sell Outs

Sell.out-

-noun

1. An act or instance of selling out.

2. Bitch motherfuckers who fuck the game up for everyone with there inability to make decisions in the face of temptation.

Example.

1. Anakin

2. Shamwow.

(I'm talking about the towel. the dude selling um punched a hooker so we know he's still got cred.)

Blockhead on Sellouts

If you don't know who Blockhead is then.. damn. The man has some interesting things to say about what time and money can do to people and their credibility. I personally found what he had to say to be very interesting. He even breaks down all the sucker-punks into categories! Peep his blog post on sell outs HERE.

Fotoflow

There are some eyes that you just have to have your shit seen by. If
Oscar "Fotoflow" Arriola's eyes hasn't seen your work, or at least you...then you aint human. But maybe you're one of those "I dont want to be human" types, in which case, you aint shit. ANYWAY this dude is all over the cities you wanna be, documents the ill throughly and has a cool personality to match.

2627

"2627" is the first piece in my "MobileHomes" series. This one in particular is based on a place I lived in in middle and High school.

The Mobile Homes Series illustrates people as inevitable representations of the places they are from and have called home. Figures will bare the weight of a conglomerate of inanimate, animate, and abstract forms equating to a worn mascot mask  used to narrate personal stories of the past, present and future.  For this particular series, components of residential structures are the key features on the masks.

Post Post

Been getting down on flyers and shit of the graphic design sort as of late. The most recent is this one. Plan is to pop in more and post post more stuff to boast boast about.

The Otherside of a Smile-San Fran-April 25th

It's about time I got in another West Coast show. It's curated by my boy Christopher Burch and flaunts range of art, music and design. Plus it's out of the oh so heavy OnSix. If only I had the dough (and time) to fly out there and kick it with my show mates and these notorious street scum I hear about...

The other side of a smile

The Other Side of a Smile is a multi media group show that celebrates the many facets of irony. The reasons why people would rather send in the clowns or just burn the big top down as opposed to sitting in quiet despair. The other side is the intersection where a sinking feeling meets survival, where laughter and laceration take turns on the swing set. It is where the phrase “its funny because of the strangeness” comes to light. The Other Side of a Smile will be held on April 25th at OnSix Gallery, located on Sixth Street between Market and Mission. The event will begin at 6 p.m and ends at 1:30am.

90's Nostalgia

I dont understand why this new generation is so damn nostalgic! Kids born in the 90s, are obsessed with the 90's. I think us older cats (did I just call myself older?!?!) have pinned the youngins in a corner. So many creative types and music junkies yearn "for the way things used to be" so much that its gotten young folks all confused and desperate for that same feeling. It's too early for all that.

Know what I think... older nostalgic-able dudes, keep reminding us but don't require people to obey. Younger dudes, do your job by building spaceships and creating fresh shit! (for real fresh shit, like new fresh shit, not 1983 "fresh" ) Now the two of you stay in your corners and do ya thing. -18aC
